Hundreds gathered inside the Terminal C baggage claim area to welcome home the heroes.
A sea of homemade signs, American flags, roars of applause and an abundance of thank you’s filled the Terminal C baggage claim area of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) on May 20, 2011 as hundreds of supporters welcomed home nearly 200 wounded soldiers from all Branches of the U.S. Military.

The atmosphere was unforgettable and heart-warming, thanks to the Warriors Weekend Corporation and MoMs USA.  The two organizations combined their efforts to make the event possible.

“We just love our defenders of freedom and what they do for us; the sacrifices that they make for our country,” said supporter Sherri Kocian. “The hearts of Americans come together in this event. It’s given them an avenue to come together and give back to our military for what they do for us.”

Soon after arriving, these brave men and women were taken on tour buses to enjoy a fishing weekend in Port O’Connor, TX, sponsored by Warriors Weekend.

Unfortunately, Houston does not experience this often. Due to the fact that the U.S. Department of Defense only charters planes for service members to Dallas and Atlanta, welcoming home heroes at Houston’s airports is a rare event.
