The leadership team within the Houston Airport System (HAS) is adding a key new member, as Kirk Rummel is named chief financial officer.

Rummel makes the move after serving as the managing director of finance with Continental Airlines. In that position, he maintained the financial health of several key areas within the airlines’ operation, including flight operations, safety, catering and fuel.

In his new position, Rummel will oversee numerous aspects of the airport system’s financial operation, including project funding, debt management, accounting and others.

“Kirk Rummel brings a tremendous amount of experience and energy to the Houston Airport system team,” says Houston aviation director Mario C. Diaz. “His familiarity with both the Houston market and the dynamic nature of the aviation industry are going to be invaluable assets as we collectively move the Houston Airport System forward.”

Rummel is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Texas Christian University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Accounting and Finance Professionals of Houston, as well as the National Alliance to Advance NextGen.
