When Dallas-based Southwest Airlines scouted a location to film their new national TV spots – Houston had all the right stuff. William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) successfully beat out several other airports across the U.S. as the setting for the ever-popular “Grab Your Bag: It’s On” ads.

“It is an honor for Hobby Airport to be showcased by Southwest Airlines on a national level,” says Hobby Airport manager Mary Case. “This is a positive reflection that our Houston Friendly way of doing business made a difference. Hobby Airport appreciated the opportunity to play a role in this project.”

During the five days of filming in February, the Houston Airport System assigned numerous public safety and operations personnel to help the film crew behind the scenes.

“We mapped out the entire production by the hour so it stayed on schedule and at the same time, we wanted to ensure that this filming did not impact any flight operations,” adds Case.

One spot produced in Houston entitled "Battle Cry," features ten Ramp Agents "revealing" Southwest's Bags Fly Free policy as they stand on the tarmac at Hobby Airport. The purpose of the spots is to show how Southwest “consistently provides a positive experience that keeps customers coming back and is a reliable and dependable travel partner,” quoted a Southwest Airlines press release.

Two of the new spots are scheduled to be aired during broadcasts of the college basketball championship games.
