The 2011 State of the Airport event is now set for January 27.
Expect a bold, innovative presentation during the State of the Airports event, hosted by the Greater Houston Partnership and Houston Airports at the Hilton Post Oak hotel later this month.

Recently, the executive leadership of the Houston Airport System completed a Strategic Plan for the country’s fourth largest airport system. Planning for the next five years creates a clear vision for George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby and Ellington Airports.

Aviation director, Mario C. Diaz will discuss the focused approach which will expand Houston Airports’
global footprint.

Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airports handle 48.5 million passengers annually, which includes more than 7.8 million international passengers.

Repositioning Hobby Airport for international departures is on the front burner and at Bush Intercontinental, the plan is to attract new international airlines.

“For Houston’s economy to continue its vibrant growth, we must position our airport system to make it possible for Houston to remain closely connected with emerging markets and strong economic global centers, “says Mario C. Diaz, aviation director. “We can no longer be satisfied to merely be connected with every major city in the U. S. and Western Europe. We must now seek to position Houston as a major nexus in the global air transportation grid.”

Diaz will highlight new flights and routes at Bush and Hobby that are convenient for all Houston customers with access to nearly 190 domestic and international destinations.

“The Greater Houston Partnership is pleased to welcome the Houston Airport System’s new Director of Aviation Mario C. Diaz as he delivers his first State of the Airports address,” said Jeff Moseley, President and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership. “The Houston Airport System is a vital cog in the region’s economic engine and we know Mario’s wealth of experience will greatly enhance HAS’ global stature for the airlines, passengers,
and cargo.”

More than 400 people are expected to attend the State of the Airports luncheon on Thursday, January 27 in the Galleria area hotel.
