George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) welcomed the world’s best selling whiskey with the black carpet rolled out in Terminal D. The Nuance Group North America, Jack Daniel’s, and IAH, welcomed visitors to the world’s first Jack Daniel’s airport store.
Representatives of all three companies joined together to welcome the first ever store of its kind in Houston and all took turns hammering the bung of the barrel to inaugurate the grand opening of the store.
“The Nuance Group has been a great retail partner since 2005 and we have seen consistent growth with them,” says Randy Goodman, commercial development manager for the Houston Airport System. “As IAH celebrates its 40th anniversary, we are tremendously pleased to be a part of this latest innovation and bring a unique offering to our airport.”
Decked-out in the brand’s signature black and white colors, the new duty free/travel retail store will specialize in all things Jack, including shirts, hats and other items carrying the logos and designs of the world’s top selling whiskey.
According to Richard Rendek, CEO for The Nuance Group North America, creating the Bush Intercontinental’s Jack Daniel’s store was an exciting opportunity.
“Jack Daniel’s is a worldwide iconic whiskey with passionate followers,” says Rendek. “Being the world’s first travel retail operation to open a dedicated store for the brand in one of the globe’s busiest airports was an easy decision to make.”
The travel retail director for Jack Daniel’s parent company Brown-Forman, Jim Perry, said the decision to open the store was a good one.
“The Nuance Group is a top-flight airport retailer and everything they do is of high quality,” says Perry. “They have done a spectacular job here catching the feel and spirit of Jack Daniel’s and that will be apparent to the passengers traveling through Bush Intercontinental.”
Among the guests was Jack Daniel’s great grand-niece, Lynne Tolley, who was autographing copies of her famous cookbook that features Jack Daniel’s whiskey infused recipes.
Jack Daniel’s comes from North America’s oldest registered distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The Jack Daniel Distillery was founded in 1866. |
