The Houston Airport System is celebrating the 40th anniversary of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) with a look back in time at the humble beginnings of one of the largest gateways of the world. Monday, June 8, will be exactly 40 years from the time Bush Intercontinental had its opening day. A VIP ceremony with airport representatives, congressional leaders, dignitaries, and Captain A.J. High, who was the pilot who flew the first flight at IAH, will kick the historic day off. Volunteers and airport employees will turn the clock back by wearing some of the styles of the late 1960’s. Media, passengers, VIPs and the community are all invited to IAH’s Terminal A to take a peek at how the airport has grown in the past 40 years.
