EZ TAG Airport Parking now available at Houston’s airports
March 1, 2007

Starting on March 30, 2007 on-airport parking customers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) will have a new easy payment option available. That option is the use of the Harris County Toll Road Authority’s (HCTRA) EZ TAG to pay for parking at the airports.

Working in conjunction with HCTRA, the Houston Airport System (HAS) will designate EZ TAG lanes at both airports for automated and fast payment of parking fees. The system works just like the toll roads.

“We realized that many of our parking customers already have a HCTRA EZ TAG, and decided that it would improve our customer service to have EZ TAG lanes at our parking facilities,” said Rick Vacar, director of HAS. “This new system not only speeds up the exiting process but also requires less manpower.”

“Teams at the Toll Road Authority and the Houston Airport System have worked for several months to provide this enhanced service to our shared customer base,” said Mike Strech, director of HCTRA. “Using your EZ TAG for on-airport parking will be easy. We encourage EZ TAG patrons to learn all the ins and outs before the first visit to airport parking using the EZ TAG.”

HCTRA EZ Account customers with vehicles displaying a TAG and using a credit card for EZ Account transactions can begin using the new service on March 30. All information about the airport parking program is available at www.eztagstore.com. EZ Account patrons wanting to use the service may opt in by logging on to your online account, calling 281-875-EASY (3279) or by e-mailing eztagstore@hctra.com. The credit card associated with the EZ Account, and not the EZ Account balance, will be charged for all parking fees. EZ Accounts using electronic funds transfer are not eligible for the airport parking service.

The Houston Airport System served 51 million passengers in 2006. It is the 4th-largest multi-airport system in the U.S. and the 6th-largest in the world. Bush Intercontinental is the nation’s 9th-busiest airport. According to J.D. Powers & Associates, William P. Hobby Airport is first in customer satisfaction among smaller airports in the United States. HAS annually contributes over $24 billion in positive economic impact to the Greater Houston region. Voters established the Harris County Toll Road Authority in 1983, and it now serves more than 625,000 EZ TAG customers. The innovative mobility system is self-supporting, receiving no funding through local or federal tax dollars.
