2009 marks the 40th anniversary of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and the 35th anniversary of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. What better way to celebrate, than to attend the 26th IAH Appreciation Airport Festival?

“The airports in Houston play a major role in representing the entire city,” said Houston Airport System communications director Roxanne Butler. “That’s why it’s important that the general public have a chance to come out and see firsthand some of the exciting things that are happening within the Houston Airport System.”

The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, sponsoring corporations and local organizations will be on hand showcasing their businesses in the Expo Area.

“This is an event that offers something for everyone,” says Alisha Roberts, director of marketing and special events for the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. “It’s informational, it brings history to life, but most of all, it’s just fun.”

Attendees can look forward to seeing popular attractions that have been present at previous festivals such as static displays of F-16’s, a C-130 aircraft, the FedEx Airbus A-300, the Hurricane Hunter, helicopters and antique airplanes from the Lone Star Flight Museum.

Pilots will be on hand for the event, and families can climb inside many of these aircraft to see the inner workings of these aviation marvels.

Guests will also be able to enjoy the Art Cars, EMS vehicles, the Houston zoo mobile, food and beverage options, stage entertainment and a children’s area.

Attending guests will find the fun at the Continental Airlines 777 Hangar, Building B at 4365 Wright Road, with activities running from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.

Admission is $10 for adults in advance, $15 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 3-12 years-old are only $5. These prices include food, beverages and activities.

For more information on the event, or to order tickets in advance, contact the Houston Northwest Chamber
