Come on, admit it.
You know you don't like carting people to the airport.
Houston residents and out-of-town travelers can rely instead on taxis, shuttles and now nonstop bus service to George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Metro has added nonstop bus service to the airport for $30 round-trip.
The buses, similar to those used by Park and Ride commuters, run every 30 minutes to and from Metro's downtown passenger plaza, 815 Pierce, to Bush airport's Terminal C.
If successful, the service could later be extended to Hobby Airport.
Tourism and airport officials said the service, which started in August, provides travelers with a convenient, inexpensive ride.
"It's definitely a need," said Lindsey Brown, a spokeswoman for the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau. "When we found out Metro was planning something like this we were thrilled. ... It's economical, it's easy and it's convenient."
Travelers, particularly those from out of town, should find the service a relatively inexpensive means to get into the city, officials said.
"We are a global city, and we have people from all parts of the world coming here to Houston," said Roxanne Butler, a Houston Airport System spokeswoman, "and having the bus service gives you a great opportunity to quickly get downtown."
The service has thus far resulted in an average of about 56 daily boardings, said Raequel Roberts, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
"Obviously, we would like to get that number higher," she said.
"We're hoping with the holiday, as more people start traveling, we're going to see an increase in ridership," she said.
