Jim McIngvale rarely does things in small, quiet ways. When the man known as “Mattress Mack” speaks, there’s no straining to hear the words.
As owner of “Gallery Furniture,” when he pitches his products in a television ad the passion is obvious and when he decides to engage himself in a cause, there’s no telling how far he’ll go to make sure that the goal is reached.
A perfect example of this can be found in “Mack’s” most recent commitment…to the United Service Organizations.
Gathered outside the USO facility at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), McIngvale announced that he was committed to outfitting each and every USO center around the world with new furniture and electronics, and he was starting the effort right here at home.
“Gallery Furniture is proud to support the men and women of the armed forces through this ambitious program with the USO,” said McIngvale. “The concept of refurnishing and redecorating more than one hundred USO Centers all over the world has truly excited and energized the Gallery Furniture team.”
The program will begin at several airports located across the country. HOU is included, as is Mississippi’s Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. Fort Carson, Colorado is on the list, along with Philadelphia International Airport and Fort Drum, New York.
Each of these USO Centers will receive new furniture, along with interior design services absolutely free of charge. Once those facilities have been remodeled, then it’s on to the next center until all 130 centers located around the globe are completed.
It’s a gesture and a commitment that is expected to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the men and women who are serving their country in the United States armed services.
“Some of these USO Centers haven’t been upgraded in a long time,” said McIngvale. “Gallery Furniture is happy to provide a warm, peaceful and tranquil environment for troops as they serve around the world.” |
