Known as the “Energy Capital of the World,” Houston was recently ranked one of the five most logistics-friendly cities in the United States.
The Bush Intercontinental Airport Cargo Center provides more than 550,000 square feet of cargo space, establishes IAH as a major gateway for air cargo distribution capable of handling the demands of any importer, exporter or shipper.
With scheduled service around the world from 12 all-cargo airlines, Bush Intercontinental Airport has experienced a significant growth in international air cargo traffic through the first nine months of 2008.
“Bush Intercontinental is within the top-20 airports in the country for air cargo volume and is one of the fastest growing air cargo hubs in the U.S. with ample and uncongested airport facilities,” said Luis Aviles, who is Houston Airport System’s Marketing Specialist. “We are capable of continuous upgrades and expansion to handle future growth.”
Overall international air cargo shipments have increased by 4.65 percent year-over-year in the period from January to September.
The Houston Airport System reports that international regions with the most significant growth include Mexico and Central and South America – with respective year-over-year increases of 10.9 percent and 9.6 percent during the first nine months of the year. |
