Even more passenger and air cargo traffic for HAS

Boosted by another year of passenger and air cargo traffic increases, Houston’s three primary airports head toward another record-breaking performance – one month shy of the New Year both Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby airports closed the month of November 2006 with impressive traffic growth.

For the month of November 2006, total international air cargo for the Houston Airport System increased by 11.5 percent, in comparison to the same timeframe in 2005.

Particularly strong were international regions such as Central and South America, Europe and Asia/Africa/Australia, which each closed the month with respective year-over-year increases of 25.7 percent, 14.4 percent and 8.4 percent.

Among the top-performing cargo airlines for the same month were Saudi Arabian Airlines, Taca International Airlines, Cargolux and Air France; each with respective year-over-year increases of 115.9 percent, 59.4 percent, 55.1 percent and 25.5 percent.

Passenger traffic through Bush and Hobby airports also registered healthy growth during the same month. Year-to-date, total passenger traffic for the Houston Airport System continues at a steady increase rate of 7 percent, through the month of November 2006.

The top-performing passenger airlines for the month included Aeromexico; Air France and Continental Airlines passenger traffic to Mexico; each with respective year-over-year increases of 37.6 percent; 25.8 percent and 22.8 percent.
