With gas prices on the rise William P. Hobby Airport has implemented a new alternative to parking that will save you money, gas, and lower your stress levels if you ever have to pick up a passenger at the airport. The new Passenger Pick Up Waiting Lot, located off of Airport Blvd, allows you to park for free while you are waiting for your arriving party.

Instead of circling the airport while your loved ones make their way off their flights, pickup their baggage and head for the passenger pickup curbside, drivers may now simply sit in the new Passenger Pick Up Waiting Lot and await a phone call notifying them their party is ready to be picked up.

The new service is an addition to the variety of parking options already available at Houston’s airports. Short-term and long-term garages already offer very inexpensive rates such as $1 for the first hour of parking in the terminal garages, as well as an EZ-Tag airport parking option.

What makes the Passenger Pick Up Waiting Lot different is that it is completely free of charge.

“The new Hobby Passenger Pick Up Waiting Lot not only is a benefit to the travelers but the airport as well,” says Mary Case, Hobby Airport manager. “As we continue to provide a high level of customer service, this new amenity allows us to make the passenger pick-up process as swift and easy as possible.”

Freeing up any spaces that might have been used by drivers waiting to pick up passengers is also a benefit for the rest of the users of the airport’s parking locations. Less driving around the airport also means lower vehicle emissions in the air.

In order to locate the Passenger Pick-Up Waiting Lot at Hobby Airport drivers should follow the purple signs around the airport. Accessibility to the lot is available from either Telephone Road or Airport Blvd.

“George Bush Intercontinental has had a Passenger Pick Up Waiting Lot for quite some time. It is a model that has worked well for them and one that we know our community will also enjoy,” adds Case. “One added benefit at the Passenger Pick Up Waiting Lot is that our new flight information status hotline is visibly displayed.”

The flight information status hotline may be reached at 281.230.7000 and provides information about incoming and outgoing flights from Bush and Hobby airports in English and Spanish.
